The Viveve Treatment is a revolutionary alternative to vaginal surgery, with impressive results. It’s innovative, safe and the only way of providing complete vaginal rejuvenation with a single device. Viveve uses the body’s very own natural processes to boost collagen production, which restores youth back into the vagina and vulva.

For many years, the only option for women suffering from vaginal laxity was surgical vaginoplasty, which, like any surgical procedure, is associated with a number of risks, including infection, severe complications, reactions to anaesthetic and many other potential issues. It is also quite an intensive process, with considerable downtime.

For women struggling with the appearance of the vagina and surrounding area, the options were, in the past, similarly limited. The most commonly available option was surgical labiaplasty, which, like vaginoplasty and other surgical procedures, carries many risks.

However, now there is a new generation of vaginal rejuvenation devices and techniques, to offer women struggling with vaginal laxity and stress incontinence non-surgical options to help regain their confidence and their sexuality. With more women than ever becoming increasingly vocal about the difficulties they face in their health and wellbeing during the menopause and after having children, there are now many options for women struggling with vaginal laxity and stress incontinence, including the revolutionary Viveve treatment, available at Battersea Skin and Beauty.

What is Vaginal Laxity?

As we age, the rate of collagen production begins to slow, and then stops completely. This is due to the slow decline, and then steep drop, in the production of oestrogen and testosterone in the body. Collagen is the substance in the skin and bodily tissues that gives elasticity, plumpness and strength to the tissues. We can see this decline in the skin on the face and body as fine lines, wrinkles and drooping of the skin occurs, however, it also occurs in the vaginal tissues, causing a wide variety of intimate health issues for women.

As the decline in collagen production in the vaginal tissues occurs, there is an increase in vaginal laxity (looseness) in the vaginal canal and vaginal opening as the vaginal walls thin, and the rugal folds, which give the vaginal canal strength, elasticity and the ability to stretch become smoothed out.

The smoothing of the rugal folds also contributes to a reduction in the natural lubrication processes of the vaginal canal, which can result in the feeling of dryness, friction and discomfort, which may make sex less pleasurable, and even painful. A decrease in the sensitivity of the area can also occur, which can lead to some women experiencing difficulty with arousal and their ability to orgasm. These symptoms may also be exacerbated by the massive changes in hormone levels as women reach the menopause, lowering the sex drive of many women and making it much more difficult to reach orgasm and feel sexual pleasure both alone and with a partner.

This increase in laxity can also lead to stress incontinence, as the muscles that hold the neck of the bladder become weaker, and many women find it harder to control their bladder as they reach the menopause.

Stress incontinence of this kind is also common in postnatal women, due to the strain put on the muscles and the vaginal canal during vaginal childbirth. The muscles at the neck of the bladder may be weakened, especially by long, difficult birth, or vaginal birth to multiple or larger babies. The rugal folds of the vagina are also stretched and smoothed immediately after childbirth, and usually return after six weeks, though the density never fully recovers, and studies have shown a noticeable difference in the number of rugal folds between women who have had vaginal births, and those who haven’t.

What is the Viveve Treatment?

The vaginal opening and vaginal canal are the main targets of Viveve. The treatment stimulates renewed collagen production in the area, which helps to strengthen the vaginal tissues and tighten the opening of the vagina as well as the vaginal canal. By boosting collagen women will notice a number of improvements, such as:

A reduction in vaginal laxity and a noticeably tighter vaginal opening and vaginal canal.

A reduction in the symptoms of stress incontinence, such as leaks and dribbles when you run, jump, cough, sneeze or lift heavy objects, or difficulty holding urine in the bladder.

Increased vaginal lubrication, reducing the feeling of dryness and helping to make sex more comfortable, while reducing the pain some women feel during sex.

Increased sensitivity of the vaginal canal, vaginal opening, labia and clitoris, which can lead to an improvement in the ease, frequency and intensity of orgasms.

The only treatment with algorithmically-controlled cooling

The Viveve treatment works by heating the deep tissue of the vaginal canal, which then triggers neocollagenesis (the body’s natural process to produce new collagen). Viveve is the only non-surgical vaginal tightening treatment with algorithmically-controlled cooling alongside intense, deep tissue heating for your safety and comfort.

In order for the tissue tightening and strengthening results of the treatment to last for 12 months and longer, substantial heating at depth is required. Viveve uses Cryogen-cooled Monopolar Radiofrequency (CMRF) technology to do just that. The device delivers volumetric heating at very specific temperatures, to encourage robust neocollagenesis (the creation of new collagen in the tissues), while simultaneously rapidly cooling the area to protect the tissue and make the treatment completely painless and comfortable.

Many non-surgical vaginal rejuvenation treatments only use simple radiofrequency or ultrasound waves to gently heat the vaginal tissues, triggering neocollagenesis. This means that they can only heat to very low temperatures to avoid damage to the cells or causing discomfort to the patient. However, it also means that these treatments can only penetrate the upper levels of tissues, meaning the neocollagenesis isn’t as strong, effective or long lasting as with Viveve, which uses cooling technology in conjunction with deep heating to create more effective and longer-lasting results.

The treatment uses:

Reverse Thermal Gradient – The surface mucosa is cooled and protected at the same time that deep tissue is heated.
Capacitive Coupling – Energy can be distributed evenly across the treatment tip, which means that uniform heating is possible to create consistent results.
Reproducible Delivery – Heating and cooling can be controlled with ease, all thanks to an algorithm and pre-set settings, making sure the treatment is safe and comfortable.
Monopolar Energy Penetrates – Connective tissue up to 3-7 mm deep can be reached creating long-lasting and effective results.

How Does Viveve Work?

Viveve uses both heating radiofrequency waves and cooling technology to heat the cells in the vaginal area, triggering their natural regenerative response and increasing collagen production in the area, that has been lost with age. This causes the tissues to thicken and strengthen, tightening the vaginal canal and improving the general health of the vagina.

Is Viveve Safe?

Viveve uses cooling technology to ensure the treatment is safe and comfortable, and that no damage is sustained to the vaginal tissues. The treatment has also been subject to a variety of clinical trials to ensure its safety and that it is fit for purpose.

How Long Does It Take?

A Viveve treatment session takes around an hour, though the treatment itself takes from 30-45 minutes and is just one session for long-lasting and strong neocollagenesis.

Is The Treatment Painful?

The treatment is not painful, though you may feel an intense heat or cold at the very start of the treatment process. However, we tailor the intensity of the treatment to you to ensure optimum comfort and effectiveness in your treatment.

How Long Do The Results Last?

The results of Viveve gradually improve over around 90 days after treatment, as neocollagenesis takes place in the vaginal tissues. Over 90% of women report significant tightening and an increase in sexual sensation 12 months after treatment. Some patients may choose to have a top up treatment in the second year after treatment.

Why Should You Choose Viveve?

Viveve is a brilliant non-surgical treatment that is quick, comfortable and can be carried out in one treatment! Its unique cryogen-cooled monopolar radiofrequency (CMRF) technology is revolutionising women’s intimate health and the field of non-surgical treatments. The CMRF technology allows the treatment to act far more effectively than heat-based treatments with similar claims, and is incredibly safe and comfortable to carry out.

Who can benefit from The Viveve Treatment?

A number of women can benefit from the Viveve Treatment. It improves the appearance, strength, comfort and sensitivity of the vagina as a whole by targeting a number of specific, precise areas to increase neocollagenesis and rejuvenate the area. This means that women with all different types of vaginal issues can benefit in some way.

Throughout life, the female body goes through a number of different stages and these all bring considerable changes. This includes puberty, childbirth, surgeries and menopause. All of this can have an impact on the vagina. Though this is natural, that’s not to say that improvements can’t be made, especially if it is causing you discomfort. This is where the Viveve treatment comes in.

As a woman ages, the vagina changes. The vaginal walls thin, vaginal folds are lost, there’s an increased level of dryness and the possibility of pelvic issues. All of this can lead to decreased arousal, a lack of sexual enjoyment, lost confidence, pain during intercourse and even stress incontinence. This can happen to women of all ages, but is especially common in post-natal and menopausal women – in fact, around half of women will report some form of vaginal laxity, stress incontinence or sexual dysfunction as they reach the menopause.
